EMERGENTE — ZONA MACO DISEÑO 2024
EMERGENTE, presented by ZONA MACO DESIGN, celebrated its fourth edition from February 7 to 11 at the Centro Citibanamex in Mexico City. This prominent platform sought to promote the talent of young designers, offering a showcase for original projects that are distinguished by their high conceptual and discursive quality.

Balance in the permanent collection of MUAC
The Museo Universitario Arte Contemporáneo (MUAC) has recently acquired one of Joel Escalona's Obsidian Balance pieces for its permanent collection. The piece was part of the exhibition Una modernidad hecha a mano: Diseño artesanal en México, 1952-2022, which explored the concept of craft design in Mexico from 1950 to the present.

We are happy to announce our participation at Disonancia Mexicana, an exhibition curated by delaO design studio that explores the relationship between identity and design in contemporary Mexico. Some pieces from our Balance series will be on show at Museo Franz Mayer, one of the most important cultural venues in Mexico City.

For the second time Joel Escalona participated as curator in EMERGENTE, a selection within ZⓈONAMACO DISEÑO that seeks to promote the work of young designers with a curatorial line presented by Cecilia León de la Barra artistic director of ZⓈONAMACO DISEÑO — along with industrial designers Joel Escalona and Jorge Diego Etienne.
